It's no surprise that Keira and Matteo were such good friends. Keira is a wonderful little girl. So kind, funny and smart. She's helpful and compassionate, and always looks out for others. She has a sparkle in her eyes and a wonderful giggle. One could ask Keira any type of question and she always has an answer. Usually a really long answer. Which, in all honesty, was perfect for Matteo because he was patient and such a great listener. In so many ways Keira and Matteo were compatible friends.

When I see her beautiful little face or have a lengthy conversation with her there's a vice on my heart that squeezes so tight. She reminds me of what I have lost, of the conversations Matteo should be having, the books Matteo should be reading, the music he should be playing and dancing to. In the same breath, she reminds me of the beauty I had and still have. Matteo could pick good people out of a crowd. He had a keen sense of who he should be around and who he shouldn't. He made friendships with wonderful children (and adults) because of who he was. His friendship inspired some of them to action.

Keira has painted and sold rocks for the Canadian Cancer Society, and now she is cutting her hair and donating it to the Angel Hair for Kids program. Her goal is to raise $1500.00. I know she can do it.
